One of the negative elements in Taiwanese apartment buildings is the complete reliance of mechanical systems for human comfort - resulting in significant energy consumption due to a massive use of air conditioning throughout the year.

This series of 3 façade designs for a 100 m tall residential building addressed these issues. After a study of temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, global horizontal illumination, sky coverage, etc. these façade schemes assume a 30% reduction in air conditioning usage throughout the year.But the trick is to achieve these kind of results with some sense of elegance and finesse...
