- HOUSE of KNOWLEDGE - Central Library, Helsinki - (International Competition)

This project is a collaboration between atelier BORONSKI and Paris based architect Jean-Loup Baldacci.

This non-rectilinear composition clearly denotes the building as non-commercial. It is not part of the world of commerce, the orchestrated world of supply and demand. As a home for information, skills and stories of Helsinki and the world, this building exists in a slightly different universe.

The basic form of the building is three undulations that rise up as they meet Sanomia House and taper down towards the park. It also allows good view lines towards the park from the new commercial building standing immediately to the East.

In plan view the two main city grids are both employed and this strategy begins to generate the fundamental intent of this proposal which is ENCOUNTER.
