In a remote forested area a half hour drive from Kyoto city, stables, club-rooms and a dressage arena have been built.

As a home for animals we were quick to propose timber rather than steel or concrete, and a lot of attention was paid to the walking and wall surfaces and their edges. Good levels of ventilation, daylight and safety were also required.

Stalls for twenty horses, feed storage areas, fully equipped wash down facilities, club-rooms and over-night accommodation for six were arranged in a classic 'L' form to frame the dressage area.
